Quests |
|
Quests are run by the immortals of Dark Risings as special features for the mud community. When one is scheduled, you will see a note announcing its time and who will be allowed to join (level based usually). Most quests are for high level characters. Sometimes quests are done spontaneously and on the fly. [Mini-quests] can also be found in some of the different areas of Rhia, to do whenever you want, rather than waiting for an immortal to hold one. [Mini-quests] often reveal unique items or information about a place. A "protected quest" means you cannot be "killed" in the quest, only knocked out. In an unprotected quest, you can die, along with all of the nasty repercussions of death. Most quests are protected but be sure to ask if you're uncertain and have qualms about it. If someone is participating in a quest, they are protected by the immortals from PK and stealing. Attacking, stealing from, or looting a questor, unless allowed explicitly by the quest imm, can get you slain. Don't beg for or demand quests. Hinting at one once in a while is okay. Quests are ALOT of work to prepare and run and the staff are not required to run them, so appreciate them when they happen and don't be rude when they don't. On that note, if you like HAVING quests, do not WHINE about how hard a quest was, the prize for it, how long it was, etc. That's the surest way of making sure it'll be a long time before you see another quest to whine about. When a quest has begun, the following commands are activated: |
| Quest join | Join a currently opened quest |
| Quest leave | Leave a currently opened quest |
| Qsay | Sends a message to all Questors |
| Quest score | Shows the current score, includes healing |
| Quest status | Lists the quest flags |

LachoLacho is a Romany game of luck and skill. It was created by Josef of the Flaming Roses, and is now hosted by Sidonie with special permission from him. Lacho is very easy to play! Simply follow these steps:
The game continues until someone draws the JACKPOT card. The one who gets this card gets all items and gold in the jackpot! There are a few simple rules to follow:
And most importantly, remember.. Lacho is ALWAYS IC! Soul GemsAs every Arcaenum acolyte knows, magic is to be found everywhere in Rhia. While it is usually possible to predict what form and expression magic will take, it sometimes can have unexpected outcomes. When a very powerful being is slain, a great deal of magical energy is released. Most of the time, this energy is given off so efficiently that even people right beside the freshly corpsed creature will not even notice what has just happened. Occasionally, however, the magical energy is trapped as it tries to leave the body, and it instantly crystalizes into the form of a small gem. These soul gems are weightless: it would be entirely possible to carry thousands, if one wished, with no more burden or encumberance than a thousand grains of sand. Each soul gem is unique, reflecting the essence of the being which died to give it shape. Because of the rarity of these gems, they are imminently collectible and people in lands all over Rhia have been known to trade them back and forth until they get as perfect and complete a set as possible. Sidonie in particular is said to be a fanatic collector, and it's rumoured that she will trade interesting objects for unique sets of thirty or more gems. Unlike most quests, this one is completely player-run, and takes place at the player's leisure. Sidonie will also hand out free bags to keep soul gems in, if asked nicely.
