FAQ |
|
Q: A person with the [+] flag is pushing my buttons. Can I cut his (insert portion of anatomy here) off? A: No. Remember that new players may not be entirely used to the way things at Dark Risings work, and allowances must be made. If you think you have a legitimate reason to attack someone with the the [+] flag, TALK TO AN IMMORTAL. Chances are the newbie will be just as annoying after he takes off his flag. If the newbie is really not a newbie, and is just hiding behind his flag, then we will strip him of it and you can have just as much fun as you like. Q: I just got slain for an offense my brother/friend/enemy only got a warning for! What's the deal?! A: Everyone gets a warning for the first offense. If you are polite and helpful with the immortals who are investigating the case, chances are they will give you a less harsh punishment than someone who gives them grief for doing their jobs. Additionally, players who are, generally speaking, a benefit to the mud often earn lighter punishments for their occasional transgressions than the players who live to make immortal heads explode. In other words, if you are known as a player who consistently makes an effort to make this mud a fun place to be (and yes, this can definitely happen if you play an evil character), that will be taken into account if and when you do happen to screw up. Q: Evilmort violated one of the rules! What should I do? A: Report the situation in a note to imm, with as much pertinent detail as you can. What happened? What makes you think it was a rules violation? Remember, we can't investigate a case unless we hear about it, and the fastest way to hear about it is for YOU to tell us. If you would rather complain about how the imms never do anything to the players who commit rules violations against you, than report what happened to imm, that's your choice, but please don't expect us to investigate cases we don't know about. Q: I reported a case against Evilmort and nothing's happened yet! What gives? A: It can sometimes take a while to investigate a case, particularly because often the Evilmort will know he's going to get hauled up and so will make himself scarce. However, every case reported to imm is investigate thoroughly. If you're not sure what's happening with your complaint, send a polite note to imm with a brief reminder of the important points of the case, and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Q: I've been here for a LONG time, so does that mean I don't have to follow the rules as closely as everyone else? A: No. In fact, as a long-time player expectations for you are higher than for newer players, because we know you know how things are done here. It's always very disappointing to see our older players try to bend or stretch the rules, because they tend to serve as examples and role models for the people who are just coming to the mud. Q: Think I can loophole around any of the rules and not get punished because I'm technically not breaking a rule? A: Not remotely. We follow the spirit of the rules, not just the letter. We don't want to impose rules about every possible situation under the sun -- we prefer to trust our players to make good decisions. Every now and then, however, someone comes up with some hair-brained idea which is clearly against the spirit of the rules. Please do expect to be punished harshly for this, if you choose to try it. Immortals are not stupid, and you may not always be innocent until proven guilty if you have a history of trouble at Dark Risings. |
